If you're looking to meet other LGBT your own age , this is the best time ever to join or even start a group in your area. There are groups popping up all over the place and they're a great place to get together with others and get involved in activities, meet that special someone or just chill out! We've posted a list of all the groups in the North of the region that your Rainbow staff team knows about in but if you know about others get in touch and we'll add their contact details. (If you are a member or youth worker from any of these clubs, why not publicise your events or news on TYA Rainbow?)

The Fryers (after group hero, Stephen Fry) - Bedlington

Open to: lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, people questioning their sexuality, transpeople, young people who do not conform to traditional gender stereotype and other young people supportive and friendly to the LGBT community.

Age range: 13- 25s

Meeting place: undisclosed

Meeting times: undisclosed (weekly, on an evening)

Activities: partying, cooking, arty stuff, dressing up, trip to London theatre, paraded at PRIDE

WOW! - Ashington

Open to: lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, people questioning their sexuality, transpeople.

Age range: 13- 19

Meeting place: undisclosed

Meeting times: undisclosed (twice a month, on an evening)

Activities/events: Making a film, made a radio programme, doing a history of LGBT people in North East, had stall adn paraded at PRIDE, book /film club.

MESMAC GAP Group - Other areas

Activities/events: Safe social space to meet other young men who are gay, bi or unsure, events include fun social nights, learning health related information that is relevant, a place to just chill out with friends.

The Plus Group - Gateshead

Open to: lesbians, bisexual, gay men, trans or people questioning their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Age range: under 25s

Service Description: Provides a safe and secure meeting place and the opportunity to take part in group work activities/work shops which are fun and informative. Durham Young Gay Peoples Network has an annual residential which group members help to organise. The first part of the evening is as relaxed drop in session with refreshments and the second part is usually for fun group work activities.

Activities: Film festivals, photograpy, music, issue based work, residential, guest speakers, socialising with other groups, sporting activities, movie nights, bbq, internet are some examples of the past activities which we have provided in the past.

Activities/Services: The Young Lesbian Group meets one evening per week, in central Newcastle. The group provides a safe, supportive environment, where the young women can meet each other and have the opportunity to talk in confidence about their sexual orientation and related issues. The workers offer issue-based group work and a range of social activities.
